Frequently asked

Should I tip on the pre-tax amount?

Etiquette varies by region. In the US, tipping on the pre-tax subtotal is common; many simply tip on the post-tax total — both are accepted.

What's a standard tip?

In the US, 18–20% is typical for table service; 15% for okay service; 20%+ for exceptional. Other countries tip much less or include service.

How do I split unevenly?

Use the Split Bill Calculator — it handles tax, tip and unequal shares.

Do I tip on a service charge?

If the bill already includes a service charge or auto-gratuity, an extra tip is optional. Check the bill before adding more.

How much to tip for delivery?

Most US guides suggest 15–20% of the order, with a $2–5 minimum on small orders.

Is tipping expected outside the US?

Often no — many countries include service in the bill. A small round-up or 5–10% is usually plenty if you do tip.
