Formula

Each day's hours = ((end − start) − break) ÷ 60. Weekly total ≤ 40 = regular, above 40 = overtime at 1.5×.

Example

Five 9-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch = 42.5 hours (40 reg + 2.5 OT). At $25/hr that's $1,093.75 gross.

Frequently asked

How is overtime calculated?

Standard US weekly rule — anything over 40 hours is paid at 1.5× your hourly rate.

Does it handle overnight shifts?

Yes, per day — if end is earlier than start we add 24 hours to that day.

Can I skip days?

Yes — leave start or end blank to skip a weekend or off day.

Daily overtime rules?

We use the common 40-hour weekly threshold. Some states (e.g. California) use daily 8-hour rules; check your local laws.

Is pay gross or net?

Gross. For take-home estimates use the Paycheck Calculator.
